More businesses are increasingly turning to managed service providers (MSPs) to handle aspects of their IT needs as part of a collaborative IT arrangement, according to new research from IT industry trade association CompTIA.

Although Managed IT services have been around for a long time, their adoption has been slow. CompTIA found that only 3-in-10 organizations had any of their IT in the hands of an MSP, says Carolyn April, senior director, Industry Analysis, at CompTIA. More than two-thirds of companies surveyed for CompTIA’s Fourth Annual Trends in Managed Services Study, however, say they have used the serviced of an outsourced IT firm within the past 12 months. South Florida is no exemption, more businesses in Miami, Aventura, Brickell, Miami Lakes, Fort Lauderdale and even Hialeah are switching to managed service provider for computer tech support and other IT services.

An MSP Can Change Your Business!

Organizations have become more familiar with managed services and are turning to them for management of particular IT functions notably, email hosting, customer relationship management (CRM) applications, storage, backup and recovery and network monitoring.msps command center, miami msps

“While one-time projects account for some of these engagements, a significant portion is ongoing management of one of more IT functions by a managed services provider,” says April, who is also author of the report. “There is a much higher degree of familiarity with the term ‘managed services’ and greater adoption.”

What is a “MSPs”?

The elite MSPs are now offering managed services around big data, business intelligence (BI) and advanced application monitoring – and April says there is increasing demand in those areas – but most MSPs have yet to extend beyond their heritage in managing network infrastructure and basic software infrastructure.

“I think mobile is an area where the channel is getting some traction but they’re really not tapping the full opportunity there,” she adds.

April goes on to establish that part of the awareness problem lies as a definitional one, and when discussing software-as-a-service (SaaS), the customers (and sometimes the providers) remain unclear about what actually constitutes a managed service.

“I think the definitional issue is an enormous one,” she says. “It’s one of the things that has made it extremely difficult to market size the managed services space and determine adoption rates.”

In addition, MSPs have done a poor job of marketing their services to the greater community, April notes, although because of the recent doubling in use, they have markedly improved.

Why the Switch to MSPs

When your business is not an IT business, outsourcing your IT needs to a MSP allows you to take care of all the other aspects of your business, like, you know, running your business.

Reliability

CompTIA found that, for 56% of companies with 100+ employees and 47% of companies with fewer than 100 employees, improving the efficiency and reliability of IT operations was a main driving factor for going with an MSP. Though everyone’s issues are unique in themselves, chances are MSPs have seen a similar instance and have solved the problem before are quick to come up with solutions. This, in turn, saves time – and, as we all know, time is money.

Security

The report noted enhanced security and compliance needs was a factor for 38 percent of companies of all sizes.

Cost

For many companies, the cost to employ an in-house IT department can be prohibitive. ROI/cost savings was a reason for one-third of companies with 1—100 employees.

The Future of the IT Department

Although MSP use has surged in the past year, they have yet to replace traditional IT departments.

“Very few of these companies get rid of their IT staffs just because they join up with an MSP,” April explains. For larger companies, MSPs value lies in their ability to free up internal staff for more sophisticated in-house projects. “It elevates the IT staff and brings them out of the shadows within the organization,” she continues. “It allows them to focus on a custom app dev project or cloud initiative – something highly strategic. I think that’s a win-win for your IT staff.”

IT outsourcing is the process of contracting out your information technology functions to a service provider that will take on those functions and implement them for you. This service provider may be a division of the same corporation, or more than likely be a third party who is a separate entity altogether.

As IT costs are increasing for both small businesses and large companies, many of them are finding the paybacks of outsourcing. Some businesses look for services overseas in order to minimize their costs, But business must not look so far anymore because these services are readily available anywhere in the USA. The realization of outsourcing IT for businesses of all sizes has led it to become a multi-billion dollar industry. The trick to making this technique work for your business is to find the right company to provide the services for you.

The ideal service provider will offer cost-effective yet high quality services so that you will obtain precisely and only what you require. Once you’ve found the right business to do the job, you can get your company ready to take advantage of a number of important benefits to outsourcing information technology services. They include the following.

Affordability – Affordability is only the start to the benefits that a company can obtain from outsourcing. That said, it is a significant one. The labor costs alone remain notably lower while you can benefit from higher levels of service. Companies are no longer required to have to go through the hiring process of bringing in new IT employees which reduces wages, benefits, training and many overhead costs related to in-house It.

Practicality – Many of these service companies are designed specifically to be able to provide specific types of services, such as website updating, cloud services and internet security to name a few. This means that they are already fully equipped to perform their specialized services for you, and that you will be able to pay for the labor without having to invest for capital.

Flexibility –Aside from being affordable, many IT companies offer specially priced packages or à la carte options that can allow you to choose the services that are appropriate for the needs of your business at the best possible price. This helps you to avoid extra spending on services that you won’t even require. For example, you can choose either specific flat-rate project-based services where you know precisely what will be done and for how much, or you can find services that bill for their services per month, week, or hour.

Availability – Unlike hiring employees to perform the tasks in-house, outsourcing IT allows you to simply find a business that offers the service you’d like. Contact the business online or over the phone and you’ll have access to search engine optimization, website hosting, VOIP and other information technology services.

These are only a few of the many benefits to outsourcing IT that help to explain why so many companies are choosing this option as opposed to attempting to accomplish those tasks in-house. Though the primary advantage is usually considered to be the reduced cost, there are many other benefits that also occur at the same time. At Telx Computers we are committed to provide you with the best IT services tailored to your specific company needs.

If you’re a tech executive tired of the catchphrase, “align IT with the business,” you’re not the only one.

Senior ITZ leaders genuinely do want to bring their organizations in line with strategic business goals, but often they find the relationship isn’t exactly an equal partnership. As Mihir Shah, CTO of the asset management group at Fidelity Investments, quips, “Perfect alignment is when the business gets whatever it wants, whenever it wants.”

When resource-constraine, has to deal with multiple business units simultaneously – all demanding what they want when they want it – the situation quickly becomes unsustainable.

As the digital transformation continues to accelerate, the pressure on IT will continue to mount; is there a better way to create an efficient and satisfying partnership?

The answer, according to MIT’s Center for Information Systems Research (CISR), is yes, due to a concept known as “demand shaping.”

There are six key elements in the MIT CISR toolbox:

  • IT cost transparency
  • Strategic program management
  • Roadmapping
  • Business relationship management
  • Post-implementation reviews
  • Agile development

IT executives at Staples, HP, Charles Schwab and BMW have publically discussed their use of demand shaping. Demand shaping is a sound method for creating a foundational platform that can serve the needs of subsequent projects.

Demand shaping is an effective way to do more with less, a way to get more bang for your buck.

Demand shaping is “a way to turn the conversation from IT being an order-taker into one where we can enable opportunities with outcomes,” says Herve Coureil, CIO of $26 billion global energy management and automation firm Schneider Electric.

How demand shaping works

The six steps in demand shaping all aim to turn what has traditionally been a one-way interaction – with this in the unwanted and ineffective role of order-taker, into an ongoing, two-way dialogue. “Thus business needs to provide more clarification to the CIO about where it’s going and why, and what outcomes it’s expecting,” says Ross. “Then CIOs need to say, ‘If that’s our strategy, then here are the capabilities we need.’ There’s no point in building capabilities that don’t help the company.”

The discipline also forces CIOs to focus on the whole organization, rather than individual businesses, and to set and pursue long-term priorities rather than short-term goals. “CIOs want to meet needs and keep people happy. But if there is no clear prioritization of what’s important [for the entire company].

Ransomware often targets businesses (for example hospitals) rather than individuals. Corporations have more valuable data and more money for ransom (ransom increases from roughly $500 per computer to $15,000 for the entire enterprise). Cyphort has examined different variants of ransomware to help users get an idea of what might be coming down the Internet pipeline. Keep an eye out for these characteristics before your network is taken hostage:

maimi it services

Jigsaw

Deleting files at regular intervals to increase the urgency to pay ransom faster, Jigsaw ransomware operates like this: for every hour that passes in which victims have not paid the ransom, another encrypted file is deleted from the computer making it unrecoverable even if the ransom is paid or files decrypted via another method. The malware also deletes an extra 1,000 files every time victims restart their computers and log into Windows.

Peyta

Encrypting entire drives, Petya ransomeware encrypts Master File Table. This table contains all the information about how files and folders are allocated.

RansomWeb

Instead of going after a company’s computers, RansomWeb takes a road less traveled: they infect web servers through vulnerabilities and encrypt website databases and hosted files, making the website unusable until ransom is paid.

Cloud Malware

Deleting or overwriting cloud backups: In the past, backing up your data to cloud storage and file shares was safe. However, newer versions of ransomware have been able to traverse to those shared file systems making them susceptible to the attack.

Cerber

Using the computer speaker to speak audio messages to the victim, Cerber ransomware generates a VBScript, entitled “# DECRYPT MY FILES # .VBS,” which allows the computer to speak the ransom message to the victim. The decryptor website says, “Attention! Attention! Attention!” “Your documents, photos, databases and other important files have been encrypted!”

Tox

Ransomware as a service is a model offered on underground forums networks. It will provide the malicious code and infrastructure to facilitate the transfer of funds and the encryption key for the victim to be able to access their information. Tox ransomware does this.

Be Proactive and Preventative

The best way to disarm ransomware is by taking appropriate preventative measures to safeguard your data; Don’t allow redirects; don’t open emails from those you do not know; stay away from web browsers that have not been updated, such as Internet Explorer; and do not download files that you do not know the source of (e.g., an “exe. File”).

A proactive way to protect your data is to hire a remote management service that will secure your servers and enable effective firewalls. Telx Computers is one of the top IT companies in Miami, specializing in protecting your data. Our systems can detect invasive software far before it lands in your computer. Don’t let Ransomware happen to your organization.

Managed IT Service has become something of a buzzword recently, but are you confident you know what makes it different from your old IT service? As businesses face challenges scaling and managing their IT infrastructure, many move towards outsourced IT management to improve operations and cut expenses. The Managed Service Providers (MSPs) take responsibility for everything from desktops to servers and more.

When you outsource your IT services, there are two ways you can go: proactive or reactive.

  • A proactive approach consistently monitors and improves your system to keep everything running smoothly. Regular updates and system monitoring allows the service provider to identify problems and resolve issues before they affect your business.
  • A reactive model sets up your services, but then does not do any work until something happens. Then you are in crisis mode, and paying an hourly rate to resolve the issue.

Regular, or standard, IT service like a computer repair shop follows a reactive approach. Their focus is on recovering from issues rather than avoiding them. This is where the vendor makes their money, so they are not incentivized to resolve your problem quickly. Even if they are quick to respond, there is an inevitable reduction in system performance while you wait for the problem to the fixed.

Managed IT service is a scalable, proactive approach to managing your IT needs. It can range from managing the security and backup to a fully outsourced department, eliminating the need for an in-house IT position. They build their business on a performance guarantee, meaning their profits are dependent on keeping your network safe.

Computer Repairshop vs managed IT Service

Benefits of Managed IT

One of the biggest benefits of Managed IT Services is discovering and fixing problems before they negatively affect your business. A well maintained, proactively serviced computer network will always run better than one that is not.

Economical

When you consider the costs of system downtime plus repairs, managed IT services are actually more cost effective than standard IT service. Whether you require cost-effective access or enterprise-level support, you can control and even reduce your overall operating costs with a flat monthly fee.

Efficient

Remember the first time you did, well, anything? How did it go? How long did it take? Dealing with issues in an area you are not an expert in is stressful. Managed Service Provides have the knowledge and experience of supporting many networks., and remote monitoring and help desk services can have you up and running in minutes. Having an expert deal with IT issues frees you to focus on your business, so you are more efficient.

Secure

Telx Computers partners with the elite security providers that proactively manage and maintain critical components, such as firewalls, and can employ antivirus and malware suites to protect your network. They can also provide services that automatically backup your files, and business continuity services to get your business up and running in minutes.

Reliable

When you hire a managed service provider, they assume ongoing responsibility for 24-hour monitoring,  help desk management and/or problem resolution of your business’ IT system. You can budget expenses and hold someone accountable for the results.

So, is Managed IT Right for Your Business?

Check all that apply:

___ Your business depends on maintaining uninterrupted IT service.
___ You realize the hourly cost of downtime and business interruption is greater than a technician’s hourly rate.
___ You understand what it costs your company when you are not focused on your top priorities.
___ Your career goals do not include messing around with IT issues. (You do not want to be in the IT business, you do not want to deal with IT, you just want it all to work!)

If you checked any of these, than Contact Telx Computers, and let us streamline your IT needs.

Or you can wait ‘til it breaks…

An IT managed service provider (MSP) is a third-party contractor that delivers network-based services, applications and equipment to enterprises, residences or other service providers.

When a company subscribes to a managed service, a service provider manages the network equipment and applications on the customer premises according to the terms of a service-level agreement (SLA) established to meet the company’s unique business needs. Some managed services are also hosted, meaning that the service provider hosts the equipment in its facility instead of the customer’s, and delivers services to company employees over the wide area network (WAN).

Managed service providers sometimes are referred to as management service providers. In the past, management service providers was used to describe infrastructure services delivered on a subscription basis, but with the advent of cloud computing, managed IT services and management services have become synonyms.

Today, most of the IT companies promote managed services, because it puts the IT support company on the same page as the business they are serving. For small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), managed services provide enterprise class capabilities for a predictable monthly fee—without requiring a large, initial capital investment. Companies that outsource their IT functionalities enjoy high levels of network support and availability; enable internal IT staff to focus on strategic activities instead of network support, and pay only for the networking services that they need.

More benefits of Managed IT Services are:

1. Increased operational efficiency.

2. Reduced operating costs.

3. Cost-effective access to enterprise-level support.

4. Minimized downtime.

5. Allows the focus to be on running the business, and not the technology.

6. Peace of mind from knowing that the network is being monitored 24x7x365

Every business to business transaction is a symbiotic one. When one business does work for another, the provider’s reputation is as much under scrutiny as the receiver’s business is dependent on proficient service. For example, if a delivery business has a problem with its computer system, its whole operation is in jeopardy. Unless the delivery company can get the problem fixed, deliveries will fail, customers will not receive their goods on time, and compensation may have to be paid out, meaning unnecessary costs. Ideally, the company wants the problem to be fixed before its customers are even aware or affected. On the other side of the equation, if the IT specialists who are called out to fix the problem do not provide a prompt and thorough service, they are unlikely to be called out again, meaning loss of business for the IT support company. Ideally, the technicians should be trying to ensure that their company gets repeat business and, even more importantly, a recommendation to attract other potential customers. By inviting their customers to rate their services, an IT service company makes itself 100% accountable.

Following the reach of 10,000 IT users in April this year, Telx Computers, a leading provider of IT support Miami, announces the opportunity for businesses to rate every IT technician, ensuring high quality service and the best results for all. IT technicians can be rated on aspects such as overall knowledge, their demeanor, their ability to communicate, and their response time. Because of this ability to rate technicians, businesses reliant on computer support Miami know that Telx Computers is a company they can rely on for fast response and the highest quality service.

One of the most important aspects of computer services is a technician’s ability to explain exactly what the problem is before they go ahead and fix it. The customer needs to know what they are paying for. Similar to getting a car fixed, when a mechanic should explain the problem before fixing it, computer technicians should always explain the issue to the customer before dealing with it. Telx Computer technicians are aware that they are leaders in Miami computer repair when it comes to communication. It is their responsibility to ensure that they have given a full description of the problem and that the customer has comprehended the nature of the repairs. It is for this reason that businesses using IT companies in Miami come back to Telx Computers time and time again. Business owners know that they can rely on Telx Computer technicians, thus they are reassured that there will be no disruption to their services due to computer problems. They are confident that, when problems occur, they can call Telx Computers to provide prompt and expert service.

Major Benefits of Outsourcing IT Needs!benefits of outsourcing it

There is a multitude of benefits of outsourcing IT needs for your company. Of the various reasons to contract an IT company, three rise to the top. These three are work directly towards growing the business and reacting to changes in the market environment.

  • Most likely the most important to your organization and to the bottom line is cost. As in what it costs to employ a permanent in-house IT versus the cost of an IT contract with a company like Telx. Most companies do not need an in house IT staff to be onsite most of the time as this represents a waste of time and resources. If your network has been set-up and designed properly, the only time you will ever notice your IT infrastructure is when something goes wrong. Which is where Telx steps in; we are there when you need us most, and out of the way when your network is running properly.
  • The second best reason that we feel it is to a company’s advantage to contract their IT needs is precision and effectiveness in dealing with problems that arise. Though everyone’s issues are unique in themselves, chances are we have seen a similar instance and have solved the problem before so we can be quick to come up with solutions based on experience and vast knowledge in the IT field. This turns into saved overall time. As we all know, time is money.
  • The third reason is that here at Telx we feel our service is imperative and beneficial to any organization is our ability to handle and manage your business’s growth. We implement new hardware, software, manage servers and network systems so the rest of your staff can focus on actual day to day operations and not have to worry about whether your hard drive space is getting low or whether or not our database is getting backed up properly or if workstations have enough memory for the things we need to accomplish. In short, we handle the growth of your IT Department along with your organization’s demands.
